How old are the birds/babies that you offer for sale?

They will be a minimum of 6-7 weeks old.

Do you DNA test your bids, so that I know if it's male or female?

We sex our birds by DNA blood testing in a specialist laboratory (unless you prefer us not to). You will receive a sexing certificate, as well as Birth Certificate from us.

Do I have to treat my birds for worms?

When you buy birds from us, they have already been treated for worms and parasites. You can continue to do so yourselves at your home.

Can I come over to see the birds before purchase?

Unfortunately, not. We are home-based and we don’t have room enough for a showroom. However, we will send you as many pictures and videos as we can take to show you your bird, their development and their behaviour.

Will my bird have a leg-ring?

Yes, all our birds have a leg ring. The ring will be “open” as we don’t agree with putting a closed ring on the babies which are only a couple of days old!

The open ring is given to the babies when they around 3 weeks old. Each ring will be made from aluminium, coloured differently for each birth year and laser engraved with the unique bird number, year of birth, and with our mark/initials ‘BFB’.

What food should I use to feed my bird?

Our hand reared birds will be fed with a mix of pellets, dry exotic food and fresh fruit and vegetables. We do not recommend only a seed-based diet. We also use vitamins and calcium supplements for all our babies and parents.

How do I know; I am buying a healthy bird?

We will ensure the bird provided to you is healthy. We will check for any visible abnormalities or any unexpected behavioural issues. However, we are not veterinarians, our opinion will be based on our birdkeeping knowledge and experience. Rest assured that our birds will come with full warranty!

If your veterinarian confirms that the bird is unwell within 72 hours, we will take the bird back and provide you with a full refund. Full details are included within our “Purchase Contract”, which you will receive prior to bird collection and which you will only be expected to sign if you decide to collect your birds
Which payment methods will you accept?

You can pay by card or cash upon collection or bank transfer (payment must be confirmed before you leave with the bird).

Can I reserved the bird?

Birds can be reserved if you prefer us to hand feed and tame the baby for you. If so, we will require you to pay £60 upfront (on the day you choose your baby) The great news is, that when your baby is comfortable with eating from the spoon (@ 3-4 weeks old) you can visit twice to see your baby and feed them, before the “big” collection day.

We will either refund your deposit in full or replace your baby (if possible) only if your baby develops any health issues or conditions that result in you no longer wishing to keep your baby.

No refunds will be issued in any other situations unless by mutual agreement.

If I am new to Lovebirds will you be willing to give me some ‘Lovebird’ advice?

We want to ensure that our babies go to the best owners possible. We will be in contact with you (online) before collection of your bird, during the collection and after. We will advise you as much as we can, and as much as you prefer for up to 30 days after your purchase. After this time we reserve the right to charge consultation time for our advice, the fees for which are £25 per 30 minute (maximum) online session.

Can I name my bird before collection?

Of course you can! If we hand feed your bird we will make sure we call your baby by their name. All of our babies receive a Birth Certificate with the first and second name. You can choose any name, however the second name must start with the letter we will provide to you, for example, for babies born in 2022 that letter will be A.

– Also, for pedigree reasons, all of our birds will have the letters BFB after their name, so, for example for a female born in 2022, her name could be;

Maggie Agatha BFB
